Green SM Expands All-Electric VinFast Taxi Fleet to Europe with Copenhagen Launch

Vietnamese all-electric taxi operator Green SM has made its European debut in Copenhagen, rolling out a company-owned fleet of VinFast electric vehicles. Backed by Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup, Green SM already operates across Asia in Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia, the Philippines, and India. Copenhagen represents the operator's first European market.

A Direct-Management Approach to Mobility

Unlike traditional ride-hailing platforms such as Uber that rely on independent contractors, Green SM owns and manages its vehicle fleet and directly oversees its drivers. In Denmark, the company's operational fleet consists of VinFast VF 6 and VF 8 electric SUVs.

According to Green SM, this business model provides increased control over vehicle maintenance, operational procedures, and the overall customer experience. Drivers complete specialized training covering road safety, customer service, standard operating procedures, and electric vehicle use prior to picking up passengers.

Passengers can book and pay for rides using Green SM’s dedicated app, which calculates and displays the fare before a trip is confirmed.

Strategic European Debut

Green SM highlighted the significance of choosing the Danish capital for its initial European rollout, noting Copenhagen's established role in shaping future mobility standards. The company stated that it aims to draw on its experience serving millions of journeys across Asia to become a trusted mobility partner, focusing on delivering safe, professional, and fully electric trips. Green SM emphasized that earning trust locally is its primary ambition, with further growth expected to follow naturally.

To establish its local presence, the company is adopting a measured expansion strategy focused initially on meeting Danish regulatory requirements, setting up local operations, and refining its service based on user feedback.

Launch Promotions

To promote the new service to Copenhagen residents, Green SM is offering first-time users five vouchers for 25% off per trip. The discount is capped at a maximum of 100 Danish kroner (approximately $16) per ride, with the promotional offer running through September 30.
