Schneider Electric Upgrades Charge Pro Commercial EV Charger with NACS Support

According to Electrek, Schneider Electric has upgraded its Charge Pro commercial Level 2 EV charger, introducing NACS support, app-free charging capabilities, and a streamlined setup process.

Designed for deployment across apartment buildings, workplaces, fleets, and public or destination charging locations throughout the United States, the Charge Pro is now available with either a J1772 or NACS connector. Schneider Electric offers the hardware in configurations reaching up to 80 amps, allowing commercial site owners to support a broader array of electric vehicles.

To simplify the user experience, drivers are no longer required to download a dedicated app or set up an account to initiate charging. Electrek reports that sessions can be started directly by scanning a QR code on the unit—a convenience tailored for locations such as hotels where drivers charge infrequently.

Software Integration and Hardware Coverage

Upon activation, the Charge Pro package includes one year of EV Connect Software+. This cloud-based management platform gives operators the ability to remotely monitor performance, manage site access, track power usage, monetize charging stations, and offer direct support to drivers.

Schneider Electric has also shortened the commissioning process to get hardware operational more quickly. Electrek notes that the chargers come backed by a five-year warranty, alongside proactive monitoring and driver support. Schneider Electric stated that the system relies on its proprietary cybersecurity practices to safeguard charging data and overall site operations.

Power Infrastructure and Grid Balancing

Commercial EV charging installations often face local infrastructure bottlenecks, as fleet depots, office complexes, and apartment buildings frequently operate under limited electrical capacity—where upgrading local hardware can become costly.

To address these limitations, the Charge Pro integrates with Schneider Electric's broader energy management ecosystem. By linking directly into Schneider's panelboards, switchgear, and circuit-protection equipment, the system can actively balance charging loads to maximize the site's existing electrical power.

Installation and Availability

For rollouts and future site expansions, Schneider Electric is partnering with certified installers, including Qmerit. According to Electrek, the upgraded Charge Pro charger is available now through Schneider Electric's network of distributors, installers, and EV infrastructure integrators.
