2027 Toyota Sequoia Refreshed with Trailhunter Trim and 14-Inch Display

Toyota has officially revealed the refreshed 2027 Sequoia, introducing key technology upgrades, safety enhancements, and the first-ever Trailhunter trim for the full-size three-row SUV. The updates allow buyers to get off-road equipment straight from the dealership lot rather than relying on aftermarket parts.

Updated Exterior and Tech Upgrades

On the outside, the revised Sequoia features a sharper front fascia designed to emphasize horizontal lines for a stronger stance. Select trims receive revised chrome accents, a new grille treatment, rectangular fog lights, and a cleaner lower bumper design. Bright grille-mounted LED lighting and available RIGID fog lights are also offered on select trims.

Inside, every 2027 Sequoia now comes standard with a 14-inch infotainment display running Toyota’s latest multimedia system. The setup includes a redesigned home screen with customizable widgets, faster "Hey Toyota" voice recognition, and 5G connectivity powered by AT&T.

Additionally, Toyota is introducing a built-in dashcam as standard equipment. Utilizing the vehicle's exterior cameras, the system records 20-second clips either manually or automatically when triggered by specific events. Digital Key functionality has also been expanded, allowing compatible Apple, Google, and Samsung wallet apps to store the key directly. Owners can lock, unlock, and start the SUV without launching Toyota's app, and key access can be shared with up to five additional drivers. Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 is now standard across the range.

The First-Ever Sequoia Trailhunter

Joining the existing SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794 Edition, TRD Pro, and Capstone trims, the new Trailhunter package slots into the lineup as a fresh off-road focused option. Unlike some other applications, the Sequoia's Trailhunter package is built on the base SR5 trim.

The Trailhunter trim comes equipped with:

• Upgraded Old Man Emu suspension
• Michelin LTX Trail 265/70R18 tires on bronze-colored wheels
• Front recovery hooks and additional skid protection
• Locking rear differential, Crawl Control, and Multi-Terrain Select
• Exclusive Trailhunter badging

Notably, Toyota's announcement omitted certain hardware found on other Trailhunter models, such as onboard air compressors, ARB roof racks, or integrated camping accessories. This suggests the Sequoia Trailhunter is tailored more toward weekend adventures rather than full expedition travel. For utility, an available 2.4-kW onboard inverter is offered to power tailgating gear or camping equipment.

Powertrain and Availability

Toyota did not mention any powertrain updates in its announcement. This strongly suggests the 2027 Sequoia will continue utilizing the existing i-Force MAX hybrid system, which pairs an electric motor with a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6 to produce 437 hp (326 kW) and 583 lb-ft (790 Nm) of torque, though Toyota has not officially confirmed 2027 specifications.

According to Toyota, complete specifications, pricing, and production timing for the 2027 Sequoia lineup will be announced later this fall.
