Honda Updates the Japanese-Market Accord with Subtle Styling Tweaks and Sensing 360+

As buyers and manufacturers continue shifting away from traditional three-box sedans toward SUVs, vehicles like the Honda Accord have moved from volume sellers into niche products. However, Honda still has reason to maintain the nameplate and has launched an updated version in Japan that demonstrates how much life remains in the model.

Minor Visual Revisions

According to Carscoops, this update is not a traditional facelift. Instead, Honda has implemented subtle design tweaks, many of which may eventually reach the global model.

All versions of the Accord sold in Japan now feature clear side markers in the headlights rather than orange ones, alongside body-colored headlight garnishes. Honda is offering the refreshed Japanese-market Accord in four exterior colors:

• Canyon River Blue Metallic
• Platinum White Pearl
• Crystal Black Pearl
• Meteoroid Gray Metallic

Flagship Accord e:HEV Sensing 360+

The most noticeable visual updates belong to the Accord e:HEV Sensing 360+ trim. Carscoops reports that this variant distinguishes itself from the standard e:HEV with a new body-colored front grille and a body-colored shark fin antenna.

Beyond styling, advanced technology establishes the Sensing 360+ as the flagship model. It comes equipped with Honda’s Sensing 360+ driver-assistance system, which was introduced earlier this year. In Japan, this setup includes a driver monitoring system and enables hands-off driving on mapped highways, helping Honda align with driver-assistance features offered by competitors.

Powertrain and Pricing

Under the hood, all versions of the Accord in Japan retain the familiar 2.0-liter four-cylinder hybrid powertrain paired with two electric motors and an eCVT.

Carscoops notes that local pricing in Japan starts at 5,951,000 yen (approximately $37,000) and tops out at 6,351,400 yen (approximately $39,600).
